Where there's a will. . . . .
. . . . . there's a way to donate money to the Nystagmus Network! We always
need more funds to finance the important work that we do. So often though, in
our busy lives, we all find it difficult to put money aside for the causes we
believe in most strongly.
Have you thought that, by leaving a legacy to the Nystagmus Network in your
will, you will be helping us to continue providing an ever larger variety of
services to our members and to fund more research into this complex condition?
Writing a will is often something people forget to do. Yet this gives you the
peace of mind that comes from knowing that your affairs are properly organised
and that your wishes will be acted on.
You don't need to use a solicitor if you don't want to. A local legal advice
centre might help or you could use a 'do it yourself' will which you can buy
from some high street stores. If you'd like to read some advice about giving to
charity through a legacy, there is an excellent and informative website,
www.rememberacharity.org.uk. This website is part of a campaign by 130
charities which encourages people to leave money to charities in their wills.
It clearly sets out some important points:
-
What to consider when writing or updating a will.
-
How to give to the charity you want to support.
-
How to find a solicitor if you want to use but do not already have one.
-
How much charities stand to benefit from legacies-40% of the work of the Top
Ten charities is now funded by donations in wills.
Over to you; writing a will is not a particularly difficult or even expensive
thing to do. But your generosity will make a real difference to those who are
affected by nystagmus. The important things to remember are:
-
When you have thought through what your wishes are, go and see your solicitor
or other adviser.
-
Remember not to put it off.
-
Tell friends, family members and those you know who support the aims of the
Nystagmus Network of your intentions and ask them to do the same.
Thank you. Your generosity is much appreciated.
